MOMS Club®
of Gardner, KS How our Chapter started
A word from our President
Board and Committees

How our Chapter started
The MOMS Club®
of Gardner was founded by Tonya and Karen
in October of 2001. We sistered from the Olathe chapter and began with
9 members. Since then we have been steadily growing as our town grows and
anticipate sistering ourselves in the future.
We have many wonderful moms who are kind, smart, and always willing to help
out a mom-in-need. Our moms offer a wide range of experiences and expertise
in many different areas from motherhood to their occupations before they had
children. Many lifetime friendships have been formed between members, which
is another thing that makes our club so wonderful.
Our activities range from holiday parties, craft days, recipe club,
babysitting coop, and playgroups as well as business tours and park days.
There is pretty much something for everyone. If we don’t have it we are
willing to try just about anything. After all, it's all about our members
and their children.
A word from our President
Hi! My name is Mary and I'm the 2007-2008 president of MOMS Club.
WELCOME! I have been involved in the MOMS Club since 2004. I started
helping out with our newsletter, then created this website, and now I'm the
president! The MOMS Club has been a wonderful outlet for me and my kids. We
have truly enjoyed meeting so many wonderful mothers and children. I've seen
lots of MOMS come and go throughout the years, each one taking with them a
full set of wonderful friends and playmates for their children. That's
what's great about the MOMS Club, you gain so many friends. We have a full
range of activities, events, parties, craft days, and socials. There is
something for everyone, and if you don't see it, suggest it. We are always
open to new ideas. Our calendar is full all year round. Join us for an
activity and see our wonderful club for yourself.
Thanks for dropping by,
Mary

A word from our 2006-2007 President
HI! My name is Pam and I'm the 2006-2007 president of MOMS Club. WELCOME
to our website!
First off, I want to ask YOU a few questions.
1. Are you looking to meet more stay at home moms in your area?
2. Are you looking for an organization that will help you and your
child build new friendships?
3. Are you looking for a group with organized activities for moms and
their kids - playgroups, picnics, field trips, etc?
Well, if you answered, "YES, I AM"! to these questions, MOMS Club may be
just the club for you!!! :) I would have answered "YES" to all those
questions a couple of years ago too as I had just moved to Gardner. MOMS
Club has been a great way for me to meet many great ladies and their
families! And another great thing is that all the moms in MOMS Club have so
many wonderful ideas, talents and knowledge to share!
Join us for a meeting or an activity and see it for yourself!!!
:)Pam
A word from our 2005-2006 President
My name is Irene, the 2005-2006 President, but I've been a member since
2002. I would like to share some of my thoughts and feelings regarding our
chapter:
MOMS Club® of Gardner, KS has provided me a safe haven to meet other mothers
to share my life. Yes, I say "share my life" because these amazing moms,
that I have the privilege to call my friends, have walked beside, before and
behind me for over four years. These ladies have been my sisters since my
own lives so far away that I hardly see her from year to year. They have
been like aunts to my children and their kids have been like cousins.
When I first joined, I had a 2 year old boy and looking forward to potty
training. Now this boy is about to graduate Kindergarten, and he's not the
only one that has grown. We added a baby girl to our family and she's now a
toddler. Our chapter has grown from a handful of dedicated moms to a club
that has numbered over 40 members. We've seen many of our own moms
"graduate" and move on to other exciting opportunities, and even as it's
been bittersweet to see moms and kids come and go, our chapter has fulfilled
its purpose: to foster opportunities for mothers to meet each other during
the daytime and provide activities for them and their children.
Year after year we've been dedicated to providing ample opportunities on our
monthly calendars for mothers to see each other and engage their children in
various activities. We've gone on field trips all over the Kansas City
Metropolitan area, and shared many a picnic lunch. Once a month, we've
offered a MOMS Night Out away from the kids, so that mothers could enjoy
each other's company and usually we've gone out to eat and chatted for
hours.
Since I've actually been an officer this year, I shared some of my visions
for our chapter at the beginning of my term: 1) I wanted to prioritize
getting to know each other better, using a variety of approaches, even as we
continued to welcome new members. 2) Our monthly business meetings were to
become a better opportunity for doing this, sharing ideas for planning
purposes, and welcoming all members to engage in monthly events more
actively. 3) As we added the strength of new voices and new ideas, I hoped
everyone would keep an open mind to the exciting changes that we would
bring. Some ideas have borne fruit, others may not have worked out as
envisioned, but I felt the time was right to expand our horizons.
I continue to see myself as someone available to help coordinate and
facilitate the growing process, perhaps give some ideas a jump-start.
However, I welcome everyone's help and support to keep this club fun! I'm
always open to questions, comments, or suggestions (especially by email)!
:-)
However, I'm not alone in this process. I have to recognize my official and
unofficial team of assistants whose dedication and earnest care for our club
has made my "job" easier: Teri, Amy, Pam, Nikki, Stormy, Mary, Heather,
Leslie, Tonya, Jennifer, and Julie. Each of us is incredibly busy in our own lives
with family obligations, home businesses, etc. Some of us have experienced
pregnancies, or gone through bouts of illness and injury be it in our
families with parents, kids, or even our own. Some of us even had funerals
to attend in addition to who knows how many school-related events, or other
celebrations. Despite the gardening, home-improvements, laundry,
grocery-shopping, car maintenance, and everything else under the sun, I hope
you all know that I appreciate your contribution of your time and talents to
our club.
In your service,
Irene
